Meet Stephen Somkuti, MD, PhD
Dr. Somkuti is a Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist who completed his training at Duke University and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Dr. Somkuti joined Main Line Fertility in June of 2023. He is the Former Division Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, PA. He is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences in the School of Medicine at Temple University, a Clinical Assistant Professor at Jefferson Medical College, and a visiting scientist in the Department of Biology at Lehigh University. Dr. Somkuti also holds a Ph.D from Duke University where he focused his research on Reproductive Toxicology.
“Both of my parents were scientists who nurtured my passion and curiosity in the field of medicine. During my college years, I had the opportunity to work in a prestigious fertility laboratory, and since then, I’ve been deeply committed to this field.”
Dr. Somkuti has extensive experience and expertise in surgical and medical treatments of infertility and IVF. His research pursuits range from understanding endometriosis and its effects on implantation, to exploring connections between fertility and the environment. Dr. Somkuti’s areas of interest include: female and male infertility and reproductive endocrinology, IVF and ICSI, effects of the environment on reproduction, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), oncofertility and fertility preservation.
