Frequently Asked Questions

What can I do to be proactive during shutdown?

During the bi-annual shutdown periods patients can be proactive about their care and ensure they are ready to resume their IVF cycles as soon as the lab reopens by completing the following steps.

  1. Consult with your physician if you have not had an appointment in the past 6 months or if you have any questions about your care plan.
  2. Ensure you are taking the proper supplements and have a healthy BMI and diet to physically prepare your body for your upcoming IVF cycle.
  3. Join the MLF fertility community and seek emotional wellness support to reduce the stress of infertility.
  4. Complete all items on the IVF checklist.

Are all procedures unavailable during shutdown?

Only treatments that involve the laboratory and surgery center are unavailable during shutdown. Patients can still do an Endometrial Receptivity Analysis (ERA) cycle, Receptiva Dx, diagnostic testing, semen analysis, intrauterine insemination (IUI), medicated cycles and timed intercourse.

Should I still call with day 1 of my period if it occurs during shut down?

Yes! We encourage patients who are ready to start IVF to call 484.380.4890 with day 1 of their period even if the lab is in shut down. We understand that waiting is very difficult during this journey and the care team will work with you to create a custom plan to ensure you can start treatment as soon as possible.
